Virtual Queen’s Badge Celebration for BB Northern Ireland
Thursday 9th April 2020The Boys’ Brigade Northern Ireland District has launched a celebration video for the Queen’s Men 2020 Awards. Thursday 9th April should have been the District Queen’s Badge Celebration at the City Hall. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic this was obviously not possible. Whilst all were very disappointed not to be able to meet and celebrate, it was under no debate that the most important thing to do was to ‘Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives’.
So to mark this special occasion and to recognise the 292 young men who achieved their Queen’s Award this year, the highest award in BB, the NID Training and Programme Officer David Penney, produced a video. Introduced with a message of congratulations and encouragement from NID District President David Blevins the video features a full list of Queen’s Men who gained the award and a selection of photos from the Residential Courses held at the District’s Conference and Residential Centre Newport, highlighting the young people’s overall experience in The Boys’ Brigade in three words – #BBin3.
Speaking about the 2020 Queen’s Award and the celebration video David Penney NID Training and Programme Officer said:
‘I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive congratulations to all our Queen’s Men 2020. This is a remarkable achievement and a big thank you to all the BB Leaders and Queen’s Badge Advisers who have supported, encouraged and championed them working for the award. We have a virtual celebration on video to help us recognise and congratulate these young men. I ask all our BB Companies and Battalions to please share this special celebration video on your social media channels. Queen’s Men, parents, grandparents, BB Leaders, friends of BB, I invite you all to join in the celebration with us! Sit back, get some snacks, relax, enjoy and praise God for what he has and will continue to do in these young men’s lives! And looking forward, now is the time to book new candidates onto the 2020/21 courses. Full details can be found on the booking forms on our NID website at www.bbni.org.uk in the Downloads section.
