Expedition and Outdoor Leadership Standard Certificate – Assessment Weekend (New Forest)

All day

This is an online event

More Info

This is an assessment weekend taking place from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th April 2022.

The aim of this weekend is that those attending will successfully demonstrate their abilities in navigation, campcraft and group management, and receive a Boys’ Brigade Expedition and Outdoor Leadership Certificate at Standard Level. This Certificate allows the holder to lead and supervise groups who are journeying in normal countryside, this being defined as those areas in Britain which are NOT designated as Wild Country by The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The course assessment will include an overview of the equipment and kit which you bring with you, and your use of equipment in preparing your meals, pitching and striking tents, etc. You should bring a tent and everything that you would take when supervising an expedition at DofE Bronze level in countryside similar to The New Forest – and expect to carry most of it!

The base for the weekend is Stuckton Church, a former chapel on the west side of the New Forest that is being converted into an outdoor centre by 1st Alderholt Company.

For more details and to book places please contact David Allan on david.allan@boys-brigade.org.uk
