UK Parliament Week 2025
Wednesday 3rd December 2025Last week BB members across the country took part in a range of activities and events as part of UK Parliament Week!
Taking place this year from 24th to 30th November, UK Parliament Week is an annual event which aims to spread the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how to get involved, by empowering people to take action and make an impact on issues they care about.
Through our termly programme, young people in the Company age group were able to explore ‘Voting at 16’, discovering the power of their vote and discussing a range of issues affecting young people as well as what it’s like to shape the future.
In the latest activity in our ‘Is It OK?’ series, Seniors looked at the issue of ‘Abuse in Politics’. Recognising that politics can spark strong opinions, the activity encouraged them to consider where the line gets crossed between fair criticism and unacceptable behaviour.
Leaders can find these activities and hundreds more in our Programme Hub.
Groups were also able to use a range of resources from UK Parliament Week, enabling them to hold discussions, debates and votes, quizzes, creative activities and lots more.
Some groups also had the opportunity to meet local politicians including MPs, local councillors, mayors, MSs and MSPs. Others had the opportunity to visit locations important to our democracy, including Seniors from Glasgow Battalion who toured the Houses of Parliament as part of a visit to London.
