May 2025 will see the UK celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day (8th May), marking the end of World War 2 in Europe.
To support groups in commemorating this milestone, and to get involved with the celebrations, we’ve created a batch of activities for all age groups.
VE Day Medal (Anchors) – Design and create your very own medal, to help remember the sacrifice and bravery of the millions of soldiers who fought in the war.
VE Day Themed Programme (Juniors) – A mix of activities & challenges to help children learn more about WW2 and the celebrations that took place in 1945.
WW2 Timeline (Company) – Find out more about the key people & events that led up to VE Day, with this interactive timeline activity.
A Lasting Peace? (Seniors) – Commemorate VE Day by exploring what life after 1945 looked like and the progress made towards a lasting peace.

To commemorate VE Day, we’re inviting children & young people from all age groups to get creative with our Edible Union Jack competition.
This is a fantastic chance to celebrate, have fun, and showcase your skills — whether you’re a budding baker, a sweet-tooth sculptor, or a fruit platter artist!
Entries for the competition are open to all members, with the challenge to create a Union Jack out of food items. This could include decorated cakes, fruit platters, sweets, snacks, vegetables, biscuits & more. The more creative & inventive, the better!
A winning prize of a £50 voucher per age group is up for grabs, so make sure to plan the challenge into your programme and submit your entries. The competition closes on Sunday 18th May 2025. To find out more and to enter, head to our Competitions Page.
