The Spotlight on Young Leaders

Our Young Leader’s Spotlight week is back for 2025, with us once again using the week to shine the spotlight on young leaders from across the organisation.

During the week of the 19th – 25th May 2025, we’ll be celebrating our young leaders, as well as encouraging others to consider stepping up and taking the lead through their programme. To support this, we’ve partnered with the Young Leader’s Network to produced two new programmes.

This partnership aims to meet two main goals, providing young leaders with an opportunity to use their skills and voice to shape our programme across the UK, whilst also helping to equip and empower young leaders in local groups to take the lead in planning and delivering a themed programme.

Spotlight Programmes

The two new programmes for Spotlight 2025 are ‘My Superpower: Kindness’ (Anchors) and ‘Think, Solve, Thrive’ (Company). Both of these programmes have been written by a small group of young leaders.

My Superpower: Kindness(Anchors) – Part of the Fruits of the Spirit Series, this themed programme focussed on kindness and how this gift from God is like our very own superpower. In this programme Anchors can explore how kindness can be used as a power for good.

Think, Solve, Thrive (Company) – Take on a series of team-based challenges, with the focus on working together to solve problems and thrive as a team.

Both of these programmes are available via the Programme Hub. If you are using the programmes then please share your photos on social media using #BBAdventure.

How Were These Programmes Created?

We’ve worked with the Young Leaders Network to create both programmes. The team of young leaders who created the programmes this year were William McKenzie (46th Aberdeen), Madison Neville (3rd Harrogate) and Katie Smith (4th Falkirk).

These three leaders met virtually to come up with ideas for the programmes, before then going away and writing their ideas up, ready to be shared on the Programme Hub.

A number of the activities from the ‘Think, Solve’ Thrive’ programme were also delivered at the recent Young Leaders Weekend, helping to demonstrate to other young leaders how these activities are run and giving them the confidence to deliver them in their own groups.

If you’re a young leader (18-26) and would be interested in being part of the team that create programmes next year, then please get in touch with us at youngleaders@boys-brigade.org.uk
