King’s Award for Voluntary Service
Wednesday 27th November 2024Congratulations to Buchan Battalion, who have recently received a King’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the work that they do!
The award, which was made on HM The King’s 76th birthday, is the highest given to local volunteer groups across the UK and is the equivalent of an MBE for organisations.
To achieve this award the Battalion was first nominated from the community, and that nomination was then assessed by the Aberdeenshire Lieutenancy through visits and interviews. It required the recommendation of the Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire before the nomination was further considered nationally and approved by the King.
