Brigade awarded funding from Government’s Uniformed Youth Fund

Wednesday 29th March 2023

The Boys’ Brigade has been awarded significant funding from the Government’s Uniformed Youth Fund which will allow us to support more young people to learn, grow and discover over the next two years.

Funding has been allocated to 43 organisations from the Uniformed Youth Fund and is aimed at helping 45,000 more young people access regular, positive activities every year. This will support their wellbeing, give them opportunities to develop vital skills for life and empower them to be active members of their local community.

Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer said: “I want every young person to have the opportunity to access the kinds of life-changing activities which expand their horizons and allow them to develop vital life skills.”

Jonathan Eales, Chief Executive of The Boys’ Brigade, commented: “We are delighted by this investment from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and recognition in the value of our work with young people. The funding means we can increase the capacity and reach of our impact on young people in a range of local communities and is aligned to our five-year strategy to improve the quality and consistency of experience for young people.”

Natalie Whipday, the Brigade’s Operations Director, added: “Although this funding is specific to our work with young people in England, the impact will reach across the Brigade, allowing us to invest in developing resources for leaders, strengthening Church partnerships and developing our profile. The funding has allowed us to recruit a number of new roles and we look forward to welcoming new staff to the team over the coming months.”
