Scottish Bands Contest & Festival of Music (Glasgow)

Entries are invited from any BB, BB/GA or BB/GB bands from across Scotland for the Scottish Bands Contest & Festival of Music, to be held in Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow on Saturday 28th March 2026.

The event will be in three sections: Pipe Band Contest (Development and Open Classes), Marching Band Contest (Development and Open Classes) and the Festival of Music (Open Class).

The Pipe Band and Marching Band contest format will be similar to previous years. Marching Bands may include any instrumentation played on the march (e.g. Trumpet / Bugle Band, Wind Band, Fife & Drum etc), and Development Classes don’t need to play on the march.

The Festival of Music section to showcase the breadth of musical talent in the Brigade. Bands in this category will not be competing against each other, and will be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold assessment. Adjudication sheets will provide feedback on performance and development ideas for improvement. Bands in this category must comprise a minimum of four instrumentalists, may include any instrumentation / format / style (e.g. Concert Band, Brass Band, Praise Band, Rock Band, Jazz Band, Mixed ensemble etc) and are able to play seated. Vocalists may be included where appropriate. Companies may enter more than one band in any section of the day.
