As part of our new Spring resources for BB groups to use we are pleased to launch a themed programme based on Eric Liddell, one of the UK’s most famous Olympians.
This year marks 100 years since Eric’s famous gold medal at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. Alongside his successes on the track, his Christian values and example helped to ensure his legacy lives on today.
Our new themed programme has been developed in partnership with The Eric Liddell Community, an Edinburgh-based care charity and community centre, as part of The Eric Liddell 100 – a series of events and activities being planned throughout 2024 to celebrate Eric’s life and achievements.
The themed programme is primarily aimed at our Seniors age group (14-18 year olds) and enables young people to spend time finding out more about Eric’s story and how his values still inspire.
John MacMillan, CEO of The Eric Liddell Community, said: “As CEO of a charity named after Eric Liddell, I felt a duty to ensure that his life, sporting achievements and community service are remembered and valued. The Eric Liddell 100 brings together a wide range of partners to help secure, cherish and celebrate the legacy of Eric Liddell for future generations across the world. It is being planned around 2024, the centenary of his historic success at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris.”
“I am delighted to have been able to work in partnership with The Boys’ Brigade to develop this fantastic Eric Liddell programme, which will engage young people in Eric Liddell’s story, the values he led his life by, and the inspiration that they bring.”
