Information for Groups

On behalf of The Boys’ Brigade, thank you for signing up to Cumbrae Camp. We look forward to meeting you on Friday 26th May and hope you have a safe journey to camp and that the crossing on the ferry from Largs to Cumbrae is enjoyable. On arrival at the Garrison we will get you registered and you will then be shown to your weekend accommodation.

This page contains all the information you require for the weekend and all we ask from all of you is that you bring along a good attitude and a willingness to participate in all the activities to ensure that the camp is a good experience for everyone. The camp staff will do their best to ensure that you enjoy yourself and that there is plenty fun and laughter.

Consent Form

The Special Activity Consent Form for Cumbrae Camp 2023 can be downloaded here.

This is a fillable PDF, which should be completed electronically by parents/carers and emailed before the event starts to jackie.wilson@boys-brigade.org.uk.

What to Bring

  • Completed Consent Form
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Cup, plate, bowl, cutlery
  • Ground mat or camp roll
  • Sleeping bag or duvet & pillow
  • Torch
  • Plastic bags for wet clothing
  • Small bag or backpack
  • Nightwear & undies
  • Toiletries
  • Trousers / Leggings for activities – at least 3 pairs but not jeans
  • Towels – one for washing and one for “It’s A Knockout” water activities
  • Shoes / Trainers (old pair for water activities)
  • Shoes (for all other activities)
  • Fleeces / Sweatshirts
  • T-shirts / Tops
  • Waterproof jacket / Coat (we will be doing all activities even if it rains)
  • Warm hat
  • Water bottle / flask

Important Information

Smoking: There is a no smoking policy anywhere within the campsite area.

Alcohol: The campsite area will be alcohol free.

Mobile Phones: There will be no facilities for young people to charge mobiles.

Valuables: Please ensure that you take care of any valuables you bring with you. The Boys’ Brigade cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to valuables.

Dietary Requirements: anyone with any special dietary or medical requirements should ensure that they are notified at registration on the Friday night and that they are included in the Special Activity Consent Form.

Tuck Shop: There will be no Tuck Shop on site as there will be plenty opportunity for campers to go to the local shops.

Spending Money: All programmed activities are paid for within the camp money so Companies may make their own decisions on spending money.

Photographs and Video: Given that this is a very special national event, we will have a team taking photos, conducting interviews and taking video to help capture the various exciting activities and young people’s experiences. Please ensure that the team is aware of any relevant image permission issues.

Additional Information

The “It’s a Knockout” activities will be led by trained instructors at West Bay Park.

Helmets and bicycles will be hired/supplied from Mapes of Millport.

Raft building will be led by trained instructors.

Timings: All group activities are as stated so the inter-tent competitions can be completed within these blocks of time as it won’t for example take two hours to participate in the STEM activities or cycle round the island. The timings will also allow for some free time for all campers.

BB’s Got Talent: If you play a musical instrument, sing, tell jokes, dance, etc please let us know so we may include you in the programme.
