Boys’ Brigade Centenary Male Voice Choir appeals for new members.
Friday 10th February 2023Looking for a New Hobby?
The Boys’ Brigade Centenary Male Voice Choir invite past BB members or any men who have a connection with or are supportive of the aims and motto of the Boys’ Brigade to join them. Rehearsals take place fortnightly on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from September to April each year in Whiteabbey Methodist Church Hall from 7.30pm.
The Boys’ Brigade Centenary Male Voice Choir was formed in 1987 for one year to perform at celebrations marking 100 years of BB in Northern Ireland. The members enjoyed singing together so much they continued to meet and 36 years later they are still singing at Church services and concerts across NI.
Current member Roy McCullough shared some of his BB memories with us and how being a member of the choir helps him maintain his connection with BB. Roy accredits many firsts in his life with being in BB. His first time out of NI was on camp to Scotland, going to the mountains of Norway, playing at Windsor Park as a member of the fanfare trumpet team and gaining his Queen’s Badge were all highlights of his time in BB. Roy regards BB as the greatest friendship club in the world saying, you can be sure if you are wearing the BB badge someone will connect with you no matter where you are in the world. Roy can now make more memories, friendships and connections through being a member of the BB Centenary Male Voice Choir and would encourage anyone who can sing to consider joining their ranks.
The Centenary Male Voice Choir is available for bookings to any Churches or BB groups who are perhaps fundraising, marking a special anniversary or other occasions. For further details on joining or booking the choir please contact the Choir Secretary (also called Roy) on 028 91472753 or roy.mccullough30@outlook.com
