Trainer’s Role Description
It is expected that Leader Development Trainers will fully embrace and promote The Boys’ Brigade’s Vision, Mission and Values
Essential key skills will include:
- Approachable and supportive.
- Ability to form good relationships (training).
- Effective organisational skills.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable key skills may include:
- Team working skills.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to the learning needs of groups and individuals.
- Facilitation skills /collaborative approach.
- Presentation skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Delivery of high quality training in conjunction with identified training needs at a variety of levels – local, battalion, district/area and national.
- Preparation of materials/resources as appropriate to facilitate training sessions (e.g. where delivering arts and crafts, music etc., trainer may rely on their own expertise rather than deliver Brigade material in order to achieve learning outcomes).
- Identify, deliver and support ongoing training and leader development (in conjunction with Training Convenors).
- Continue to develop personal skills to enhance the training role.
Relevant experience may include:
- Actively working with young people in a BB setting following successful completion of a relevant Youth Leader Training course.
- Previous/current experience of working in a training environment.
Period of Appointment:
Appointment as a Trainer would be for a period of 5 years, with renewal for a further 5 year period approved, subject to meeting the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements, detailed in the CPD section.
