WW1 Remembered
Thursday 23rd May 2019The 7th Dublin Company held a special service to mark the centenary of the ending of WW1 in St. John the Baptist Church, Drumcondra on the 11th November. The service was led by the Rector, Rev. Garth Bunting and the Chaplain of the 7th Dublin, Rev. Norman McCausland. The Captain of the 7th Dublin, Alan Privett co-ordinated the service and music was provided by The Stedfast Association Brass Ensemble. As the church bell tolled 36 times (each representing 1000 Irish soldiers who died in the war), a BB boy or Leader then extinguished a candle, until the church was in darkness, and the Last Post was played by Warrant Officer, Gavin Rothwell. The service was well attended and included members from the 1st Killeshandra Company in Co. Cavan.
