Buckingham Palace Garden Party

Thursday 29th May 2025

On Tuesday 20th May a group of Seniors and young leaders were invited to volunteer at a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

The event was hosted by the Prince and Princess of Wales, and also attended by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall.

During the day our members undertook a range of tasks to help ensure the smooth running of the event for around 7,500 guests, including dignitaries and invited members of the public.

Ollie Bennett, a young leader at 5th Scarborough who was part of the group, said: “I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the Buckingham Palace Garden Party, and especially to be stationed in front of the Royal Tea Tent, giving me a unique insight into the the ongoings surrounding the staff that are working and the guests that are welcomed into the tent.”

“My highlight of the day was having the great honour of meeting Prince William and him taking the time to stop for a conversation. The whole day was amazing and I feel very honoured to have had this experience through The Boys’ Brigade.”

Billy Melbourne, a young leader at 10th Enfield, added: “It was a great experience to be part of the BB group at Buckingham Palace, I was honoured to be there. It was enjoyable to work with the team and observe how things operate behind the scenes, and the jobs we had were interesting.”

“The best part was getting to walk around and take in the event like normal guests after we had finished helping out – it was nice to see the gardens and the parts you never see. Overall, it was a great day that I will never forget.”
