Opening Ceremony of the Scottish Parliament

Monday 29th June 2026

On Saturday 27th June, Their Majesties The King and Queen attended the Opening Ceremony of the seventh session of the Scottish Parliament, at which young people were a key focus.

The day began with the Crown of Scotland and the Elizabeth Sword being escorted from Edinburgh Castle and processed into the Scottish Parliament, through a guard of honour made up of young people from across Scotland, including members of 25th Stirling (Dunblane) who represented The Boys’ Brigade.

Following the opening, the young people helped form a second guard of honour for the King and Queen as they departed to the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The BB group then had the opportunity to go on a tour of the debating chamber with Keith Brown, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane – the constituency where 25th Stirling is based.

Very well done to the young people who represented the organisation so well. Check out some photos from the day below…
