BB Mountaineering Club Adventure Camp (North Wales)

The BB Mountaineering Club (BBMC) is organising this Adventure Camp at the BB West Midland District Camping Centre in Dyffryn Ardudwy on the North Wales coast between Barmouth and Harlech.

It is an opportunity for young people to attend a canvas camp with a range of exciting adventure activities and is ideal for those Companies that might not otherwise be able to organise a camp of their own. There is no requirement for Company leaders to hold Camp Craft and Holiday Leadership as these are held centrally, and there may be scope for young people to attend without their leaders (if dropped off by parents/carers or leaders). It may also be possible to attend for less than the full week in certain cases.

The BBMC will arrange a programme of adventure activities (mountain walking on the Rhinogydd mountains, water-based adventure activities and other more traditional camp activities, including spending time on the glorious beach and sand dunes at Dyffryn and swimming in the sea. Some adventure activities (like Gorge Walking) will be provided by CMC Adventure.

The fees for the 2026 Adventure Camp are expected to be in the region of £200 for young people and BB leaders who want to do the CMC activities and £140 for BB leaders who do not want to do the CMC activities.

It is hoped that leaders will bring young people, but will be welcome to attend without young people, if they have qualifications that would allow them to lead outdoor activities and/or can help in the kitchen, with other camp duties or just help supervise young people.

Young leaders (up to 26) are also welcome to attend the camp on their own or with young people and it can be used as a Gold DofE Residential if they don’t know the majority of those attending the camp.
