Update from our MSYPs
Tuesday 14th November 2017BB members of the Scottish Youth Parliament provide a short update on their recent goings-on:
On October 27th and 28th, we attended a Scottish Youth Parliament sitting at the Scottish Parliament. During the sitting, we debated and voted for members’ motions that were submitted by various MSYPs across the country. In addition, we had subject committee meetings and created action plans for this year’s national campaign – Young People’s Rights. David is in the Justice Committee and John is in the Sports and Leisure Committee.
Between the first two sittings, we lead a session on Young People’s Rights at a Queen’s Badge Course at Carronvale and spoke to several Boys’ Brigade members during company nights. It was great to hear the views of so many of our young people. John visited Glasgow Battalion on their Junior100 Challenge day so the boys could complete one of their challenges. John also got to meet First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who attended the day too. Before the next sitting we are hoping to attend more events and speak to even more people to ensure the views of everyone in the BB are heard in the Youth Parliament
The next sitting will take place on 3rd and 4th of March in North Ayrshire. Before this sitting, we will be hoping to submit members’ motions to represent the views of the young people in The Boys’ Brigade. If you have any suggestions of member’s motions that you would like us to submit, or would like to contact us feel free get in touch with us via email or Twitter.
