The Boys’ Brigade Remembers

Monday 11th November 2024

The last few days have seen BB children and young people across the country get involved in activities and events to remember all those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

A contingent of young people and leaders from 12th Bromley, 1st Irvine, 3rd Kilsyth and 1st Loanhead represented the organisation at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph on Whitehall in London. Taking place on the morning of Remembrance Sunday, the event was broadcast live on the BBC and included a march past and the laying of wreaths.

Thousands of BB members also took part in Remembrance events in their local communities, including Church services, civic commemorations, collections for the Poppy Appeal, and lots more.

As part of their regular programme of activities, children and young people have had the opportunity to spend time learning about what Remembrance is and why it is important, to think about how they can get involved in supporting initiatives such as the Poppy Appeal, to get creative with a range of Remembrance-themed crafts, and to reflect on the sacrifices made and how they link to Jesus’ ultimate act of love.

BB groups have been posting about their involvement in Remembrance on social media. We encourage groups to post and tag The Boys’ Brigade, and use hashtags #WeWillRememberThem and #BoysBrigade. You can also email us at newsdesk@boys-brigade.org.uk
