Major New Mental Health Project launched by The Boys’ Brigade NI District

Friday 23rd October 2020

The Boys’ Brigade Northern District has announced the launch of a major new Mental Health project in that will be delivered in partnership with Made for More NI, funded by The Education Authority and uniquely designed for the children and young people in the Boys’ Brigade in Northern Ireland.

Mental health concerns have been identified as one of the great issues young people are facing in our time; escalated now because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Worries about school life, studying, preparing for, and taking exams and feeling increasingly anxious and isolated are just some of the problems being highlighted. In Boys’ Brigade we want children and young people to reach their full potential and feel loved, safe, and cared for. Our Boys’ Brigade vision is that they will ‘Live life to the Full’. The Education Authority funding will enable BB to provide training, programs, workshops and resources for our young people to help them work towards good emotional well-being at this uncertain time in their lives.

Jamie Meaklim founder of Made for More NI said:
‘Made for More is a Christian organisation that aims to equip young people with the knowledge and understanding, that there is value in their identity and the choices that they make. We are excited to partner with The Boys’ Brigade to deliver this project – it is such an opportunity for us to be able to reach so many boys and young men in Northern Ireland who may be struggling.’

David Penney, The Boys’ Brigade NI Programme and Training Officer added:
‘As we continue to face the challenges of COVID-19 in 2020 and no doubt beyond, now more than ever we need to care, support and resource our young people to manage their own wellbeing. We are confident that this partnership with Made for More NI can make a real and lasting difference to the lives of our children and young people and we are very excited for the opportunities this brings.’

BB Leaders in Northern Ireland looking more information on this project and to book workshops should make contact direct with Made for More.
