26th Leeds raise funds to support member
Thursday 28th April 2022Members of 26th Leeds have been raising funds to support Oliver, a member of their Seniors age group.
Following the sudden onset of symptoms, Oliver was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU). This auto-immune condition has impacted him in numerous ways, including preventing him from attending BB and necessitating a move to remote school lessons.
To raise money for a new laptop (rather than using a borrowed one) for Oliver’s lessons, children and young people at the Company undertook a ‘Walkathon’ in February, walking varying distances depending on their age group.
In March, Paul Curtis (Captain) cycled a 75-mile route from the Company’s base at St Mark’s Methodist Church in Swinnow to Nuthall Methodist Church, the home of 32nd Nottingham – Paul’s Company as a young person. All this was done on a cultural icon from the 1970s – a Raleigh Chopper!
These activities raised over £1,700 in total, far exceeding the initial target of £700. A big well done to everyone involved!
