Seniors Sevens 2017

Thursday 13th April 2017

Inverclyde & District battalion has triumphed in this year’s Seniors’ Sevens trophy. The players, all in the seniors age group, saw off competition from Glasgow, West Lothian, Stirling, East Ayrshire and Airdrie & Coatbridge at the Forthbank football complex in Stirling on Sunday 9th April.

The team from Inverclyde finished an impressive five points ahead of Stirling who ended the day as runners-up.

Paul O’Shea, BB Development Officer, coordinated the one-day tournament. He said:

“Well done to all the teams, especially the players from Inverclyde. The level of football and sportsmanship were terrific.

“In addition to what happens on weekly basis, It is important that The Boys’ Brigade continues to offer these kinds of competitive sporting events for the seniors age group.

“By taking part in national events, young people experience what the wider organisation has to offer.”

DSCF3661Seniors’ Sevens takes place each year during the Easter Holidays and this is the first time the team from Inverclyde has taken the title.
