Young Athletes Excel at Scottish Cross-country

Wednesday 28th March 2018

Young BB athletes from across Scotland competed in The Boys’ Brigade’s Scottish Cross-Country championships in Thomas Shanks Park on Saturday 17th March.

Clinching first place in the Juniors category was Tejay Scott, from Dundee & Angus Battalion. Brodie Aitken (Airdrie, Coatbridge & District) and James Gillon (Wishaw & District) took the Intermediate and Seniors titles respectively. This was the second year running where Brodie and James took home an individual title.

In the team competition, it was a clean sweep for Airdrie, Coatbridge & District which took first place in each of the three competitions.

Runners braved near-freezing conditions during the event, which was hosted by Paisley & District battalion.

Alan Hunter, Training and Development Officer, The Boys’ Brigade, said:

“Many congratulations to all the runners – especially to Tejay, Brodie and James. These were particularly tough conditions and I thought all the young people deserve an extra ‘well done’ for their determination.

“The team from Paisley & District did a superb job with organising this year’s cross-country championships. Thanks to their efforts, and those of the volunteer leaders from each team, The Boys’ Brigade is able to offer events where young people can compete, be active and excel.”

Previous winners include professional athletes and members of Team GB from Rio, Andy Butchart and Callum Hawkins.

Some of results appear to be missing, e.g. Glasgow and some the other Battalions. Any chance this could be updated?

Results have still not been updated to include all of the participants. Surely someone has the original paper copies?!!!
