In 2018, Scotland will celebrate the Year of Young People (YoYP).

YoYP is an opportunity to celebrate the amazing young personalities, talents, and achievers that make up Scotland. It’s all about inspiring our nation through its young people’s ideas, attitudes and ambitions.

This year long programme of events, activities and ideas will give young people in Scotland the opportunity to show the world what they’re made of and The Boys’ Brigade is looking to inspire as many Scots (young and old) to get involved as much as possible.

Advisory Group

Several BB young leaders from around Scotland make up our YoYP Advisory Group.  The BB YoYP2018 Advisory group is responsible for championing The Boys’ Brigade’s engagement with Scotland’s Designated Year in 2018  – the Year of Young People.

Members of the group will act as ambassadors and help to communicate with battalions, companies, key stakeholders and individual young people on events, resources and opportunities for young people.  Members of the group will also assist local areas to ensure that BB is maximising the opportunities offered by YoYP2018

Members of the group are: Emily Bell, Callum Dewar (1st Lenzie), Ian Brown (25th Stirling), David Kong (65th Edinburgh), Kirsty Melville (1st Monifieth), Michael MacAulay (3rd Inverness), John Paterson (3rd Kilsyth), Chris Mollins and Cameron Sheilds (1st Lochwinnoch).  To get in touch with the group, or to invite them to your company, please email

There are numerous ideas included in the BB YoYP2018 Toolkit.  In addition, there will a calendar of national events taking place throughout the year.  We also want to hear of anything you’ve got planned already and you can submit your event here so we can share it as widely as possible.
