Residentials Guidance for Northern Ireland

Following the announcement by the Northern Ireland Executive and guidance received by the Education Authority, with effect from Monday 5th July limited residential activities will be permitted

When considering the feasibility of holding a residential leaders MUST follow the guidance provided in the Residential/Overnight Stay Addendum which forms part of the main youth restart guidance issued by EA. Companies carrying out education visits outside Northern Ireland should follow NI Guidance for travel within the Common Travel Area.

The guidance includes the following requirements:

  • Indoor Overnight/Residential Stays permitted with a youth group size of six max, and when they have exclusive use of the venue and one participant per room.
  • Outdoor Overnight Stays, (e.g. camping/under canvas) with no limit on the group size, but limited to one person per tent and operated in a designated camping area for the groups sole use (i.e. no risk of mixing with external users etc).
  • Education Visits, including overnight/residential can now take place within the Common Travel Area (Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland) whilst following the NI Restrictions here and those of the area you are visiting.
  • Singing is now permitted outdoors.
