Bringing the BB adventure to you

Bringing the BB adventure to you

27th April

Over the last six weeks, we have been continuing to provide opportunities for children and young people to learn, grow and discover through our new online programme – #BBatHOME.

When government advice was issued last month on social distancing, all face-to-face Boys’ Brigade activities and events were suspended. By the end of that same week, we were delighted to be able to launch #BBatHOME. Each week, we are now sharing 18 new activities for the various age groups we’re working with, from 5 – 18 year olds.

As well as continuing to support national priorities in terms of young people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing, the programme is placing great emphasis on children and young people having fun – something that is arguably more important than ever in the current unsettling times.

“It has not only helped my son continue with BB activities but has helped us spend time as a family.  We have been learning from some of the activities but most of all having fun at a difficult and stressful time.”
Fiona Porter, Parent

“We are loving the #BBatHOME activities. They have not only been good for my son, but his sisters have been able to be involved too. I am so grateful that The Boys’ Brigade has put these activity packs together for the boys, to encourage them to have fun at home while staying safe.”
Lesley Angus, Parent

“We have been hugely impressed by #BBatHOME. The ideas and resources are excellent and we can’t believe it was put together so quickly! It’s a great way of young people still feeling connected to each other and still working towards their awards. Our family also enjoy looking at what the challenge has been each day. We would thoroughly recommend #BBatHOME to any parent!”
Rebecca Malin, Parent

“I’ve loved doing the different activities and sharing with my friends from BB.  I also sent a letter and some pictures to the care home near my house so that the residents know that we care for them”.
Phoebe, 9, Boys’ Brigade Member

“The #BBatHOME challenges are fun and boredom busters. You could have a laugh with all the family, especially when things didn’t go to plan. We even had our gran on Facetime with us to show off how good and bad we were at some of the activities.”
David, 15, Boys’ Brigade Member

“In a time of social distancing, it’s important for young people to know they are part of the BB Family even when we’re not together. The #BBatHOME programme is helping to do this and keep us all connected.”
Colin Weir, Boys’ Brigade Leader

“The Boys’ Brigade may be working very differently to how it has ever worked before in our history. However, we are essentially still ‘doing BB’ – we are still living out our vision, mission and our values. I’m proud to be part of an organisation that continues to innovate and acts as a positive force during such unsettling times. The Boys’ Brigade may be in its 137th year, but having “Faith in Young People” remains our core focus regardless of how much the world around us has changed.” – Jonathan Eales, Chief Executive
