Recruitment: Open To... Campaign

Made By Mobile Film Competition

Competitions

Made By Mobile Film Competition

Last Entry: 1st July 2021 (NOW CLOSED)

The start of our new BB session in the Autumn will be a huge opportunity to tell people about the work of the BB and what we offer to children and young people who have missed out on so much over the last year. To support this we will be producing new recruitment resources which will include new videos for Companies to use and share to promote their work.

We know though that these videos can only broadly explain all the kinds of amazing things that happen in BB Companies across the UK & RoI. So we are inviting you to Get Creative and enter our short film competition to develop a 60 – 90 second promotional film to explain what you do in your Company and why people should join.

We hope that as well as taking part in our competition that these videos will also give you a practical resource to use in promoting your Company locally at the start of the new session.

Criteria/Brief:

  • Produce a short film explaining what you do in your Company and why people should join.
  • Theme – incorporate the theme that “BB is open…” within your film.
  • Duration – maximum of 90 seconds (1 ½ minute).
  • Young people should be involved in the planning and production.
  • Consent – if children or young people feature in any photos/videos you should ensure you have the relevant consent form completed. Parents/carers should also be updated about the use of the video, highlighting that it will be used on social media. If parents/carers are providing any kind of testimonials in the video then they need to be told how it will be used before participating.
  • Follow the BB Covid-Ready guidance framework and local restrictions whilst planning and producing your film.
  • Entries should be submitted by 1st July 2021 (details below on how to submit) with the top 3 entries also being promoted on our national social media channels.

Top tips and suggestions:

  • In planning your film, remember to carefully think about:
    • Audience – who are you talking to through your film, young people directly or to parents/carers or more widely your local community?
    • Message and Action – what do you want to tell people about your Company and what do you then want them to do with that information? It should make people want to come to your Company or find out more – so your broad messages should be around BB being open, a place to come to learn, grow and discover and have fun.
    • Language – avoid terminology that people without any BB knowledge might not understand.
    • Keeping it simple – don’t try to over complicate things, simple can be very effective.
  • You don’t need lots of expensive kit for a great short film, they can be recorded using mobile phones – find out more below about an online course we are running to support this competition.
  • Please record your film in landscape format and resolution set to 16:9 as standard, ideally at 1080p (720p minimum).
  • Good sound quality is important – make sure any voices are clear and avoid background noises.
  • Lighting – use plenty of light, which should always be behind the camera.
  • Please be aware of the surroundings in your video, who / what else can be seen.
  • Avoid shaky footage.
  • Editing – there is some great free software available to edit your film, like Kinemaster and iMovie.
  • If you are using background music please make use of copyright-free music.
  • We encourage you to read through the BB brand guidelines and follow this guidance on, for example, use of our logo.
