Nature Bingo

Nature Bingo

What You’ll Need:

Getting into the Activity

Make exploring the outdoors into a game, by playing Nature Bingo. What will you find?

Download and print the ‘Nature Bingo’ activity sheet or create your own. Children can either work individually or in small groups. Each child or group will need a bingo sheet. This activity works best in a forest / woodland area, but would also be suitable in a local park or green space.

Head out and explore the area, trying to find the items on the bingo sheet. Once you have found one cross it off your sheet and carry on. Whilst everyone has the same design bingo sheet, children will see different things at different times, so it is still a race to try and find the objects on the sheet in the quickest amount of time.

If playing individually, but walking around in small groups, to make things harder you could set a rule that once an object has been found by one person, no one else can claim that same object for their bingo sheet. For example if one child finds a spider, no one else can use that spider for their sheet. They must find a different spider.

Play as per normal bingo rules, with children trying to get a line first and then a full house. If you struggle to cross off all the items, then set a time limit and the child with the most boxes crossed off wins.

Keeping Everyone Safe

  • Activity MUST be supervised by a leader or parent/carer at ALL times.
  • A leader or parent/carer MUST assess risk before taking part.
  • A leader or parent/carer MUST ensure that current Government guidelines are followed at all times (including social distancing, travel etc).
  • Shared equipment should be kept to a minimum and everyone should sanitise their hands before and after the activity.
