In the Cup

Tuesday 1st September 2020

Get Active: In the Cup

Age Group: Juniors

Time: 10 Minutes

Preparation Needed: In the Cupboard

What You’ll Need:

  • Cup
  • Scrunched-up Paper Balls

Getting into the Activity:

Set up the game by placing a table in the middle of the room. A cup or small container should be placed in the middle of the table. Ask the group to stand (socially distanced where required) in a big circle around the table. Each child should be given a scrunched-up ball of paper.

In turns, children should attempt to throw their ball of paper into the cup from where they are standing. They score 3 points for getting the ball inside the cup. 2 points for hitting the cup and the ball stays on the table. 1 point if the ball stays on the table. -1 point if the ball lands off the table. You may wish to rotate the circle during play, so children have a fair attempt from the same angle.

This game can be scored either individually or as teams. The person / team with the most points at the end is the winner.

Vary the difficulty by changing the size of the target, adjusting the points or changing the throwing distance.

Keeping Everyone Safe

Maintain social distancing where required. Children should ideally have their own paper ball which they play with for the duration of the game.
