Football Tennis

Tuesday 1st September 2020

Get Active: Football Tennis

Age Group: Company / Seniors

Time: 15 Minutes

Preparation Needed: In the Cupboard

What You’ll Need:

  • Football
  • Cones

Getting into the Activity:

A variation on tennis which combines tennis and football skills.

This is best played in pairs. Each player should have a box marked out on the floor with cones / markers. The box should be a reasonable size.

The serving player should kick the ball into the air, so it bounces in the opposite players box. They should then return the ball by kicking it back. This continues back and forth until there is a foul. Fouls are if the ball bounces outside of a coned box or if the ball has more than two bounces before being returned. Continue playing with players taking turns to serve (like in tennis), keeping a tally of the scores as you go along.

An alternative way to play would be for both players to work together to try and achieve the highest rally of successful passes back and forth without committing a foul. Challenge another pair to try and beat that score.

Keeping Everyone Safe

Maintain social distancing where required. Encourage young people to not pick up the ball with their hands, but instead use their feet to move the ball around the room and position the ball ready to play.
