Bean Game
Tuesday 1st September 2020Get Active: Bean Game
Age Group: Anchors
Time: 10 Minutes
Preparation Needed: Ready to Go
What You’ll Need:
- No Equipment
Getting into the Activity:
Ask each child to find a space in the room. Where required, ensure social distancing by asking each child to hold their arms out wide to make sure they can’t touch anyone else.
The bean game is an action game. A leader should call out the following beans. When called out children should act out the appropriate actions. To begin with, play so everyone gets used to the actions. After a while the last person to do the action should be asked to sit down. This should eventually produce a winner.
Play the game multiple times, making the game more difficult by calling out the actions quicker and with multiple actions one after another.
Here are some actions you can use. Only use some to begin with, introducing more over time and depending on the age and ability of the children you are working with.
Runner Bean – Run on the spot
Jumping Bean – Jump up and down
Jelly Bean – Wobble your arms and legs
Broad Bean – Stand with your arms and legs as wide as you can
Baked Bean – Lay on the floor pretending to sunbathe
Chilli Bean – Shiver, pretending to be really cold
Mr Bean – Pull a silly face or pretend to be like Mr Bean
French Bean – Pull a pose and call out ‘bonjour!’
Magic Bean – Pretend to cast a spell with a magic wand
Keeping Everyone Safe
Please ensure social distancing where required. To aid with this, markers or hoops could be placed on the floor for the children to play by / in. Leaders should refrain from shouting the actions and instead use a standard volume. A drum could be hit before saying each command to ensure all children are listening and ready to hear the action.
