Parliament Exhibition to make case for the BB

Friday 19th May 2017

The Boys’ Brigade is holding a week-long exhibition at Holyrood starting May 22nd which has been sponsored by Fulton MacGregor MSP. It’s an opportunity to showcase The BB’s impact, and in particular, highlight the range of regular sporting, recreational and play opportunities the BB affords young people – and its impact in promoting a healthier Scotland.

Our Call to Action

The Boys’ Brigade is challenging politicians from across the political spectrum in Scotland to support its #TeamPlayerScot campaign and work together to recognise the vital role that youth work and specifically, youth organisations, have in promoting sport and play opportunities for young people. Find out more about our campaign.

We’re calling for a team-based approach to encouraging participation in sports that:

  • Recognises that youth organisations play an important role in offering regular opportunities in play, sport and recreation
  • Offers regular sport and play opportunities which are critical for children and young people’s health, tackling childhood obesity and helping bridge the educational attainment gap
  • Facilitates greater collaboration between The Boys’ Brigade and sporting bodies
  • Encourages schools and local authorities to do more to support youth organisations to deliver engaging, fun and worthwhile sporting opportunities

How BB companies can get involved

Whilst it’s not a public event, it would be terrific if companies could showcase their physical activity programme during the week. Please share photos & videos of recent activities – such as team games, expeditions, camps and competitions using the hashtag #teamplayerscot

Should you have any questions or examples of how sport in the BB makes a difference, please email newsdesk@boys-brigade.org.uk
