  1. Malcolm Maclennan says:

I am Captain of 36th Aberdeen and Vice President of Aberdeen and District Battalion. I have been involved in this organisation for 52 years, the last 42 as a leader. I have been privileged and humbled to have served in 5 companies in Aberdeen as a leader, four of which I have been Captain. I wanted to give something back to the Boys’ Brigade for everything that it gave me in my formative years. It gave me confidence in my youth and I was encouraged and supported through the President’s and Queen’Badges. The organisation caters for those of all faiths and of no faith and for those of no ability and of great ability. All involved are treated equally and are encouraged to work hard, play fair and be better than their best. The Boys’ Brigade is as relevant today as it was in the beginning and with continued hard work and endeavour it will remain so in the future. How grateful I am to the Boys’ Brigade for shaping my life, bringing me to meet and marry my late wife and growing and strengthening my Christian faith. William Alexander Smith and his fellow leaders certainly started something remarkable 133 years ago in Glasgow. Long may the Boys’ Brigade continue so that the youth of tomorrow may also experience its work and good influence.
